CPR Renewal Course / CPR Recertification Vancouver

Keeping your first aid and CPR skills up to date is one of the best ways to stay confident in an emergency. Whether you work in healthcare, construction, security, or child care, your certification eventually expires. The good news is that if your certificate is still valid, you can take a shorter and more affordable renewal course instead of completing the full training again.

At Fundamental First Aid, we offer Red Cross renewal and recertification courses in Vancouver for CPR, Emergency First Aid, Standard First Aid, and BLS (Basic Life Support). These classes refresh your knowledge, review essential techniques, and update you on the latest Red Cross and WorkSafeBC standards.

About Fundamental First Aid

Fundamental First Aid is a Red Cross and WorkSafeBC-approved training center located at 1868 Glen Dr #206, Vancouver, BC V6A 4K4.

We train individuals and teams across the Greater Vancouver Area, including Mount Pleasant, Downtown Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, and North Vancouver. Our instructors have professional experience in healthcare and emergency response, and they focus on helping students feel confident and capable in real-world situations.

Our renewal programs are designed for busy people who already know the material and simply need to update their certification before it expires.

Why Renewal and Recertification Courses Matter

CPR and first aid skills are practical, hands-on skills that can fade over time if they are not used. Regulations also change as medical guidelines are updated, so what you learned a few years ago might not reflect current best practices.

Renewal courses make sure your knowledge and technique stay sharp while saving you time and money. You will review essential skills such as CPR, AED use, bleeding control, and injury management, all while earning a new Red Cross certification card that is valid for another three years.

Renewing before your certificate expires also avoids the need to take the full-length course again, which can be longer and more expensive.

Shorter, Cheaper Renewal Courses for Red Cross Certifications

Almost all Red Cross certifications offered at Fundamental First Aid includes an option for recertification if your current card is still valid. These classes are shorter, less expensive, and focused on reviewing key skills rather than starting from scratch.

You are eligible for a recertification course if:

  • You have a valid (not expired) Red Cross certificate.
  • Your previous course was taken through the Canadian Red Cross or a recognized partner.
  • You can present proof of certification at the time of registration.

If your certification has expired, you will need to complete the full version of the course to receive a new certificate.

Renewal courses typically take half the time of the original class, making them the preferred choice for most returning students.

CPR Renewal and Recertification

If you already have a valid Red Cross CPR certificate, you can take a CPR renewal course to refresh your skills and extend your certification for another three years.

What you will review:

  • Recognizing cardiac arrest and unresponsiveness
  • Performing chest compressions and rescue breaths
  • Using an AED effectively
  • Managing choking and recovery position
  • Updates to current Red Cross CPR guidelines

These shorter classes are ideal for workers and students who need to keep their CPR certification active for employment or regulatory compliance.

Emergency First Aid Recertification

The Emergency First Aid Recertification Course is a 4.5 hour refresher designed for students who already hold a valid Red Cross Emergency First Aid certificate.

This renewal focuses on reviewing life-saving skills for common emergencies such as choking, bleeding, and medical conditions.

You will review:

  • Scene assessment and hazard management
  • CPR-C and AED use
  • Treating wounds, burns, and fractures
  • Managing medical conditions like shock and fainting
  • Emergency communication and documentation

Emergency First Aid Recertification is popular among employees in retail, education, security, and light industry, as well as community volunteers who want to stay current without retaking the full course.

Standard First Aid Recertification

The Standard First Aid Recertification Course is for students who completed the full two-day Standard First Aid course within the last three years. If your certificate is still valid, you can register for the renewal, which takes only one day.

This course is perfect for anyone who needs a higher level of certification but wants a faster and more affordable way to renew it.

The course includes:

  • Adult, child, and infant CPR and AED training (CPR-C)
  • Advanced wound care and bleeding control
  • Splinting and injury management
  • Medical emergencies including diabetes, asthma, and seizures
  • Review of Red Cross safety and emergency guidelines

By taking the Standard First Aid Recertification, you can renew your certification for another three years while staying fully compliant with WorkSafeBC and Red Cross standards.

BLS Recertification for Healthcare Providers

For nurses, dentists, and other healthcare professionals, Basic Life Support (BLS) Recertification is an essential part of maintaining professional readiness.

This shorter, fast-paced course focuses on high-quality CPR and team-based response in medical and clinical settings.

You will review:

  • High-performance CPR and AED use
  • Bag-valve-mask ventilation
  • Two-rescuer and team-based resuscitation
  • Pulse checks and advanced patient assessment
  • Red Cross BLS updates based on the latest clinical research

The BLS Recertification Course helps healthcare professionals keep their certification current and ensures their techniques remain aligned with national Red Cross and medical standards.

What to Expect in a Renewal Course

Recertification courses are designed to be efficient, interactive, and hands-on. Rather than repeating all the theory from the original class, you will focus on practice, updates, and confidence building.

In your renewal class, you will:

  • Review Red Cross first aid and CPR standards
  • Practice key life-saving techniques with instructor feedback
  • Participate in simulated emergency scenarios
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all required skills
  • Receive your new Red Cross certification card upon completion

Classes are typically smaller, giving you more one-on-one time with the instructor. You will leave feeling confident and ready to respond in real emergencies.
