This course covers not only the essential first aid techniques but also the legal requirements and guidelines for workplace safety. Therefore, Standard First Aid with CPR-C is recognized by WorkSafeBC as equivalent to OFA Level 1, and allows you to work as an OFA Level 1 first aid attendant. This course also meets the first aid requirements for Massage Therapists as mandated by the CMTBC’s bylaws.

What is Standard First Aid with CPR-C?
SFA, which is short for Standard First Aid, is an intermediate first aid course designed by the Canadian Red Cross. Upon successful completion of this course you will be issued an Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificate.
Does SFA include cpr training?
Yes, this course includes CPR-C, which is the highest level of CPR training the Canadian Red Cross offers. It means that you cover CPR techniques for Adults, Children and Infants. This course also includes instruction on how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) for Adults, Children, and Infants. In fact, all of our first aid training in Vancouver, with the exception of Naloxone Training, includes CPR and AED training.
Can I do the Standard First Aid course online?
You cannot complete the entire course online, however at Fundamental First Aid Ltd. we offer the blended version of SFA with CPR-C. This means that half of the course is done online at your own pace. Then, you will need to complete the last half of the course in class with a qualified instructor.
What are my food options while taking this course?
SFA with CPR-C is an 16 hour course. The first 8 hours are completed online, at home, at your own pace. The last 8 hours are completed in class. The day is set up like a typical work day, with two coffee breaks and a lunch break.
At Fundamental First Aid we offer free water, coffee and tea and we have a fridge and microwave available if you want to bring your own lunch. There is also a great little diner within walking distance if you want to run out for some food during your break.
Is there a written exam?
Yes, there is a 30 question multiple choice exam that you will complete at the end of your class. You have 45 minutes to complete the test, and you must get 23 of the questions correct in order to pass the course.
Can I work as a first aid attendant with this certificate?
YES! If you are taking this course for work, SFA with CPR-C is recognized by WorkSafeBC as equivalent to OFA Level 1 and qualifies you to work as an OFA Level 1 first aid attendant anywhere in British Columbia.
