In high-risk or remote worksites, quick and safe transport of injured workers can mean the difference between life and death. The Transportation Endorsement (TE) Course prepares first aid attendants to move patients safely from the scene of an injury to a medical facility when emergency medical services may be delayed.
At Fundamental First Aid in Vancouver, our WorkSafeBC-approved Transportation Endorsement Course provides the hands-on training required for attendants certified in OFA Level 1 or OFA Level 2. This course is a critical component for anyone working in high-risk or less-accessible worksites where access to professional medical help may take longer than 30 minutes.

What is the Transportation Endorsement Course?
The Transportation Endorsement Course is a WorkSafeBC-approved program designed to teach first aid attendants how to safely prepare and transport injured or ill workers. It focuses on preventing further injury during transport and ensuring the patient is delivered to medical care quickly and safely.
This course is not a standalone first aid program. It is an add-on certification for students who already hold a valid OFA Level 1 or OFA Level 2 certificate. Students taking the OFA Level 3 course do not need this endorsement, as transportation procedures are already included in that program.
Who Needs the Transportation Endorsement?
You are required to hold a Transportation Endorsement (TE) if you are a certified OFA Level 1 or OFA Level 2 attendant working in a high-risk or remote workplace that meets either of the following conditions:
The worksite is more than 30 minutes away from an ambulance station, or
The worksite has less-accessible areas where emergency response could be delayed.
WorkSafeBC considers many industries to have less-accessible or higher-risk environments, such as:
Construction and demolition projects
Logging, mining, and natural resource operations
Marine and port worksites
Manufacturing and industrial sites with large facilities
Road, bridge, or highway construction
Remote power generation or utility projects
Even in urban areas, large construction sites or facilities with limited access points may fall under the “less-accessible” category. In these cases, having a certified Transportation Endorsement is required under the WorkSafeBC Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, Part 3.

Why the Transportation Endorsement Matters
WorkSafeBC requires that every high-risk or remote worksite has qualified first aid attendants who are capable of not only providing emergency care but also safely transporting injured workers when necessary.
In these situations, waiting for paramedics to arrive may not be an option. A properly trained attendant can make the difference between stabilizing an injured worker and allowing their condition to worsen during a long delay.
By completing the Transportation Endorsement Course, attendants gain the skills to:
Safely move injured workers without aggravating their injuries
Use approved transport equipment properly
Comply with WorkSafeBC Regulation Part 3
Maintain the highest safety standards on site
Employers benefit as well. Having TE-certified attendants ensures compliance with provincial regulations and reduces workplace risk by preparing teams for emergencies in remote or less-accessible conditions.
