    Training Center in Vancouver, BC

Our classroom feels more like a workshop than a lecture. We offer WorkSafeBC certifications and Canadian Red Cross first aid certificates. You’ll practice on Bluetooth-connected CPR mannequins, run through mock emergency scenes, and learn how to respond to real-world incidents that happen right here in the Lower Mainland — from workplace injuries to opioid overdoses.
We designed our Vancouver training center to make learning simple. Classes run mornings, evenings, and weekends, and every seat comes with hands-on practice time. Parking’s easy, the SkyTrain’s a short walk away, and coffee shops are right around the corner for your lunch break.
Thousands of Vancouver students have earned their OFA certificates here, from construction workers and nurses to teachers, film crew members, and high-school students.

    Occupational Health Service

We don’t just teach skills — we help businesses meet WorkSafeBC occupational health and safety requirements. The courses we offer as part of our Occupational Health Service in Vancouver  keep workplaces compliant and ready to handle medical emergencies until professional help arrives.
Companies across Vancouver call us to organize on-site group training. Whether it’s an office downtown, a warehouse near Clark Drive, or a construction site in Burnaby, our instructors bring everything needed for certification.
If your safety plan includes first aid coverage, we make sure your staff has the right level of training — and that it’s properly documented.

First Aid Certification in BC, Explained

British Columbia has two separate first aid certification systems, and most people don’t find that out until an employer rejects the wrong certificate.

WorkSafeBC Occupational First Aid is the provincial workplace standard, made up of Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced levels, still widely known as OFA Level 1, 2, and 3. If your employer is covered by WorkSafeBC, which is nearly every employer in BC, this is the stream your designated first aid attendant needs.

Canadian Red Cross certification covers Emergency First Aid, Standard First Aid, and CPR levels A through C. It’s the stream most often asked for in childcare, education, healthcare, recreation, and by employers outside the occupational attendant role.

The two overlap but aren’t interchangeable in both directions. WorkSafeBC recognises Canadian Red Cross Standard First Aid as equivalent to Intermediate First Aid (OFA Level 2), so a Red Cross certificate can qualify you as an OFA Level 2 attendant. It does not work in reverse. Because the Red Cross course includes child and infant CPR, a WorkSafeBC certificate cannot be substituted where Standard First Aid is specifically required.

What applies to every BC certification:

    • Valid for three years from the date of your course
    • Must be completed in person with a qualified instructor, since practical skills have to be assessed directly
    • Recognised throughout British Columbia
    • No prerequisites for entry-level courses

How to know which level your workplace requires. Under Schedule 3-A of the WorkSafeBC Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, three factors decide it: how many employees work at the same time, how far your site is from a hospital by ambulance, and your worksite’s risk rating. Any employer with more than 10 employees working simultaneously must have a certified attendant on site.

Fundamental First Aid is a WorkSafeBC-approved training provider and a Canadian Red Cross Training Partner, so we deliver both streams from our Vancouver, Burnaby, and Surrey centres. If you’re holding a job posting or a safety plan and aren’t sure which certificate it’s asking for, send it to us and we’ll tell you.

First Aid & CPR Courses we offer in Vancouver

Occupational First Aid Level 1 (OFA Level 1)

If your job requires a basic first aid ticket, OFA Level 1 is where most people start. This one-day course covers the essentials — airway management, bleeding control, and shock response. You’ll also practice CPR and learn how to use an AED.
Our OFA Level 1 Vancouver classes run several times per week, and every student leaves fully certified under WorkSafeBC standards.

Occupational First Aid Level 2 (OFA Level 2)

For higher-risk worksites or supervisors who need intermediate skills, OFA Level 2 builds on everything from Level 1 and adds more advanced patient assessment, environmental exposure, poisons and amputations.
The course takes 2 days and includes a written evaluation. Graduates can act as designated first aid attendants for most medium-sized worksites in BC.

Occupational First Aid Level 3 (OFA Level 3)

This is the most advanced WorkSafeBC certification available — the gold standard for remote or high-hazard workplaces.
In our OFA Level 3 Vancouver program, students spend two intensive weeks learning advanced airway techniques, trauma management, and evacuation procedures. It’s tough, but our instructors keep it real and supportive, using real-world stories from job sites across BC.

    Basic First Aid Courses Vancouver

Our basic first aid courses in Vancouver are perfect for parents, students, or anyone who wants to know what to do in an emergency. You’ll learn how to recognize and respond to choking, burns, bleeding, and medical emergencies like heart attack and stroke.

    Emergency First Aid Course

This one-day emergency first aid course meets the standard for many workplaces and community jobs. It covers life-threatening conditions, CPR, and AED use, giving you the confidence to act fast until help arrives.

Standard First Aid and CPR Certification

For those who want broader knowledge, our standard first aid course includes everything from wound care and fractures to environmental emergencies and secondary surveys. It’s ideal for employers who want a deeper level of staff preparedness.

    Intermediate First Aid Training

If you’re aiming for something between basic and advanced, our intermediate first aid course blends medical theory with realistic practice. You’ll work through scenarios that mirror real incidents seen in Vancouver workplaces every day.

    Advanced First Aid Course

Our advanced first aid training pushes your skills further. Students practice multiple-casualty management, oxygen administration, and complex patient transport techniques.

This course is a strong choice for security teams, industrial safety officers, and remote site workers who need more than basic care.

    CPR Certification

The CPR Level C program covers resuscitation for all age groups, including adults, children, and infants. It’s a must-have for childcare providers, coaches, and teachers.
We have a CPR Course running multiple times a week at our Vancouver center, and certification is valid for three years.

Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR-HCP Training (Healthcare Providers)

Healthcare professionals, nurses, dentists and dental assistants often need Basic Life Support (BLS) (formerly CPR-HCP) certification. This course covers two-rescuer CPR, airway management with barrier devices, and team response in clinical settings.
Our instructors have backgrounds in emergency medicine and paramedicine, so you’ll get accurate, real-world training.

    Naloxone Training and Overdose Response

The opioid crisis has touched every part of Vancouver, especially downtown and the downtown east-side. We offer naloxone training to help the public recognize and respond to overdoses safely.

This short session teaches how to use both injectable and nasal naloxone kits. It’s an important community course we’re proud to offer free for qualifying groups and schools.

    Transportation Endorsement (TE) Course (WorkSafeBC-Approved)

The Transportation Endorsement (TE) course is for certified OFA Level 1, 2, or 3 attendants who transport injured workers. It covers spinal packaging, loading procedures, and patient monitoring during transport.

Our Vancouver TE classes meet all WorkSafeBC standards, and many students complete them alongside their OFA 1 or OFA 2 training.
