Your OFA Level 3 certificate must still be valid on the first day of class. If it has expired, book the full 10-day OFA Level 3 course instead.

What Is OFA Level 3 Recertification?

OFA Level 3 recertification is a 5-day, 40-hour course that renews your WorkSafeBC Advanced First Aid certificate for another three years. It covers the same topics as the full 10-day OFA Level 3 course in a condensed format, for attendants who already hold the certification and need to refresh their skills and pass the exams again.

Advanced First Aid is the name WorkSafeBC has used for OFA Level 3 since its November 2024 changes. It’s the same certification, so you’ll see both names used.

Who can take the recertification?

  • You hold an OFA Level 3 or Advanced First Aid certificate
  • Your certificate is still valid on the first day of class
  • There’s no grace period. If your certificate has expired, even by a day, you’ll need the full OFA Level 3 course

Tip: Book a month or two before your expiry date so there’s no gap in coverage at work.
