What is Emergency Childcare First Aid?

This is a basic first aid course designed by the Canadian Red Cross. Upon successful completion of this course you will be issued an Emergency Childcare First Aid certificate.

Does this course Aid include cpr training?

Yes, this course includes CPR-B, which means that you cover CPR techniques for Children and Infants.  This course also includes instruction on how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) for Children and Infants. 

Can I do this course online?

No, you cannot complete this course online. In order to meet the requirements of the Community Care and Assisted Living Act,  you must complete this course in class with a qualified instructor. 

Is there a written exam?

Yes, there is a 24 question multiple choice exam that you will complete at the end of your class. You have 30 minutes to complete the test, and you must get 18 of the questions correct in order to pass the course. 

Can I work as a first aid attendant with this certificate?

YES! If you work at a daycare, this course qualifies you to act as the designated first aid attendant anywhere in British Columbia. This certification meets the requirements of the BC Community Care and Assisted Living Act.
