Basic Life Support (BLS) Recertification
BLS Recert is an advanced CPR course in Vancouver, designed by the Canadian Red Cross for Nurses and Healthcare Professionals.
Designed to build participant confidence in performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills in a team environment for professionals with a duty to respond. Teaches the important steps to perform a rapid assessment, perform Basic Life Support (BLS) skills, and perform rapid defibrillation including use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
Airway Management and Oxygen Therapy can also be added as additional certifications to this course. These additions add 2 hours to the length of the course, making it 6 hours in total.

Who should take BLS?
This course teaches the advanced life-saving skills that any health care professional should know. In-facility care providers, including nursing staff, care aides, medical and dental professionals should take this course. Pre-hospital care providers, which may include professionals in a fire service, rescue team, sports-medicine, lifeguards and ski patrol may also take BLS.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the course, you will leave at the end of the day with your official Canadian Red Cross Basic Life Support Certificate. Certifications expires 1 year from the date of your course.

What is Basic Life Support?
BLS is an advanced CPR course designed by the Canadian Red Cross. Upon successful completion of this course you will be issued an a Basic Life Support certificate.
Can I do this course online?
No. You cannot complete this course online. This course teaches advanced skills and in order to be certified, these skills must be signed off by a qualified first aid instructor.
Is there a written exam in a BLS course?
Yes, there is a 20 question multiple choice exam that you will complete at the end of your class. You have 30 minutes to complete the test, and you must get 15 of the questions correct in order to pass the course.
Can I work as a first aid attendant with a bLS certificate?
No. If you are taking this course for work, CPR-C is not recognized by WorkSafeBC as equivalent to any of the Occupational First Aid programs that are designed for workplace first aid attendants.
